Fall 2024 Field Trips Overview
- For the fall, there are 5 field trips themes to choose from: Farm Trails, Pumpkin Power, Gem Dandy, Nature Trail, and NC Farm Escapes (all described in detail below!)
- OR, if you are looking for something else, give us a call and we will build a tour that meets your class objectives.
- Fall Field Trips run from mid-September through mid-November.
- We also have other themed field trips YEAR-ROUND, so keep us in mind for all 4 seasons.
5 FALL OPTIONS:
Recommended for any group with less than 25 people and ALL Pre-K groups!
This is a self-guided tour that includes the following:

Grades K, 1st, and 2nd
For groups of 25 or more.
Includes:
-Everything in Option #1 Farm Trails
-Plus, a real pumpkin for each child to take home, the kids love this!
-Plus, a guided “Life Cycle of a Pumpkin” educational experience as described below.
Students will learn all about pumpkins and how they are grown, harvested, and consumed. Emphasis will be placed on the pumpkin life cycle & this nutritional powerhouse, the pumpkin. After the class discussion, students will visit a pumpkin sensory STEM-Ag station.
Grades 1st and Older
For groups of 25 or more.
Includes:
-Everything in Option #1 Farm Trails
-Plus, a guided, hands on, educational experience at Paydirt Pete’s Treasure Mine.
-Plus, real gems and stones in a bag to take home with an identification card.
Tour participants will venture to Paydirt Pete’s Treasure Mine, Hubb’s very own mining sluice, for an interactive hands-on sluicing experience. The gems are REAL, not plastic. Afterwards, students will receive identification cards to identify their discovered stones and gems.
Grades K and Older
For groups of 25 or more.
Includes:
-Everything in Option #1 Farm Trails
-Plus, a Hubb’s take-home trail bag for each child.
-Plus, a guided “Nature Trail” educational experience as described below.
Participants will venture through Hubb’s Forest Nature Trail, a 0.75-mile trail through the woods including uphill and downhill terrain, trees galore, and a bamboo forest. They will discover the importance of trees and the interaction environmental components such as air, water, climate and geological features. Trees, like all living things, have a life cycle that includes sprout, growth, injury and disease, aging, and death. As trees go from sprout to death, their physical form changes, as well as their role in the forest ecosystem. Participants can also enjoy the the Animal Farm Tracks activity. Trail signage will help guide you and a staff member will be available if you need assistance.
Grade 8 to Adult
For groups of 10 or more.
Upon arrival, our friendly staff will provide a brief introduction to kickstart your Farm Escapes Adventure. Before your visit, you’ll have the opportunity to select your preferred Farm Escape Adventure. Additionally, you will receive an email containing the link to our farm guide app, Goose Chase. This free app is compatible with android, iPhone, and tablet, and will serve as your trusty companion throughout your adventure. Make sure to download it before arriving at the farm to familiarize yourself with the app’s features.
These NC Farm Escape Adventures are ideal for staff development, team building, and just some good ole fashion fun with an outdoor twist. Isn’t it time to be outside!
Choose from our exciting adventure options: After booking, you’ll be contacted by Beth or Tammy to determine your group’s adventure and desired choice option.
– Option A: Pioneer Escape Trail: Form groups and embark on a 1.5 to 2-hour adventure, equipped with clues and a lock book. At least one person in the group needs to have the Goose Chase App downloaded. $35 per person. Call for large group pricing.
– Option B: Maze Mania: Compete in groups to find all the checkpoints and see who finishes first. No shortcuts allowed! Points are calculated by the Goose Chase App. At least one person in the group needs to have the Goose Chase App downloaded. On average, it takes 1.5 hours to complete all the checkpoints, and a bonus point at the end will determine the winners. This is a Maze visit only: $15. per person.
– Option C: Black River Kayaking *Hubb’s Farm Foundation*: HFF offers kayak rentals, shuttle services, and tours. Paddle the nearest section of the Great Coharie River, with an approximate 1.5-hour paddle time. Please bring plenty of bottled water, as it can get hot even during the fall season. Plus, each child will receive a Hubb’s take-home trail bag. $45 per person for Great Coharie.
Other river adventures include, but not limited to, South River and Black River sections. Prices vary according to travel and river section paddle time. An ‘adventure’ waiver is required for all participates. Please note that if the water level is too low for kayaking, we will reschedule as needed.

From Seed to Feed Tour
Students will learn all about preparing the land for crops after the winter, with focus on the different crops that are grown in Eastern North Carolina and how they help feed the world. Emphasis will be placed on the plant life cycle from seed to mature plant. Students will participate in our plant-a-seed hands-on activity and will get to take their planted seed home for further observation.
Home School Days/Small Group Days
Educational classroom segments will be presented at various times; these days must be scheduled online in advance. One parent/teacher per family free.

Toppers’s Egg-ceptional Egg Hunt Tour
Join Topper the Bunny for an egg hunt, photos, a visit with our baby animals, and all that our Crops of Fun Play Land has to offer! Each participant also receives one free return pass for Spring Day at Hubb’s Farm.
Golden Harvest Tour
What does the number 890,000 represent? In 2017, this was the recorded number of acres of corn planted and harvested in North Carolina. During Hubb’s Farm’s Golden Harvest Tour, students will learn all about corn and how it is grown, harvested and consumed. Participants will be a-maized at the byproducts derived from corn, as it is truly a harvest of gold unlike any other! We’ll also explain how a corn maze is created using GPS technology.
