Why a Basic Life Skills Day Camp?
We’ve all seen the Help Wanted Signs!
Back in the day, many farmers provided jobs during summer vacation for teens. These jobs consisted of various tasks on and around farms, fields, and homes. Parents and teens welcomed these jobs because it provided cash for school clothes, but more importantly, these jobs taught basic life skills. Over the years, farm jobs for teens have dwindled drastically. The goal of Hubb’s Basic Life Skills Day Camp on the Farm is to share important life skills by providing a unique, challenging, and rewarding experience, and promote personal growth and development.
Meet John Peterson, a dedicated father of two and a natural-born teacher who believes in the power of learning by doing. Together with his wife Tammy, John owns and operates Hubb’s Farm. As the lead instructor of the Life Skills Camp, John brings his passion for teaching to life, empowering kids to learn new skills and explore their interests.
John’s teaching philosophy is all about giving kids the tools they need to succeed, rather than simply handing them answers. He’s a firm believer in the adage, “give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.” John is dedicated to teaching youth as an avid coach of youth baseball and enjoys mentoring young staff members at the farm.
With John’s guidance, kids at summer camp can expect to learn practical skills that will serve them well throughout their lives. Whether it’s mastering basic knots, using ratchet straps, basic automotive skills or learning general agriculture, John is always ready to share his knowledge and experience. Get ready for an unforgettable 4 days filled with fun, adventure, and valuable life lessons under the leadership of camp lead instructor John Peterson.
