During our 2021 Spring Season we will be offering customized experiences to best accommodate your group’s needs! We recognize that every school group has different comfort levels regarding COVID and are willing to build out a custom experience to make your students feel safe while still having FUN!

We have plenty of space out on the farm to allow for social distancing and COVID protocols while still offering educational experiences and activities for students if you choose to come out for a field trip.

Another option is something we like to call our Traveling Farmer Field Trips – where we come to YOU! We will bring our truck out to you to provide educational and fun experiences!

No matter what your needs are during these hard times we are ready to provide fun, surprising and educational experiences, just give Tammy a call at 910-564-6709 to discuss ideas!

Educational Field Trips – Previous to COVID-19

Here at Hubb’s Farm, we love welcoming students to our farm for educational field trips. We are committed to offering tours that combine learning with lots of fun. We offer multiple educational tours during the fall and spring, as well as just for fun field trips visiting with Santa at Christmas and Egg Hunt field trips in the Spring.

We realize that when teachers and kids leave school, they want to have FUN while being EDUCATED! The educational section of our field trip, the Education Hubb, consists of age-appropriate lessons based on Common Core Standards, a wagon ride, a visit with animals, our very own unique Character Traits Trail and other guided and self-guided sections. Before and/or after the Education Hubb, as time permits, groups can enjoy our Crops of Fun PlayLand. Here we have lots of fun things, such as giant slides, a jumping pillow, ball toss area, and lots more. Some activities vary depending on the season.

We are thrilled to welcome parents (if schools permit). During our field trip days we are not open to the public, meaning that any guests on our farm have prebooked an educational tour. We consider this to be extremely important. Safety is top priority at Hubb’s Farm, and not being open to the public on field trip days allows for our total focus on your fun, education and safety.

Most tour days require at least 20 or more paying participants or a minimum amount of $200 for your group. We do offer days that welcome groups of less than 20.

HOME-SCHOOL FAMILIES, we welcome you! You can visit any tour day if you have 20 or more paying participants or if you have less than 20 paying participants, one of the Small Group Days would be a great option.

Our Small Group Days are perfect for any groups with less than 20 paying participants. On those days we offer the educational tours. You are able to book if you have only a few participants. These days are great for stay at home moms to bring kids out, grandparents bringing grand kids, small home-school groups, small day cares, senior groups, and more. The small groups must be booked and paid in advance.

Take a look at the types of field trips we have hosted at Hubb’s Farm prior to COVID! As restrictions lessen and educational groups begin to travel for field trips in a normal fashion again, we hope to offer these types of field trips once more!

Toppers’s Egg-ceptional Egg Hunt Tour

Join Topper the Bunny for an egg hunt, photos, a visit with our baby animals, and all that our Crops of Fun Play Land has to offer! Each participant also receives one free return pass for Spring Day at Hubb’s Farm.

Gem Dandy Tour

During the Gem Dandy Tour, students will learn all about gem mining and nature’s precious stones. Discussion will cover stone and rock formation and classification, the difference between a gem and a fossil, and the worldwide impact of these minerals and North Carolina’s rich gold history. Participants will venture to PayDirt Pete’s Treasure Mine, where they’ll get to shake and sift the mining rough in their sluice box and let the water uncover their own treasure. They’ll take their discoveries home in a small bag, along with an identification card for their precious finds.

Home School Days/Small Group Days

Educational classroom segments will be presented at various times; these days must be scheduled online in advance. One parent/teacher per family free.

Notes for Teachers

From Seed to Feed Tour

Students will learn all about preparing the land for crops after the winter, with focus on the different crops that are grown in Eastern North Carolina and how they help feed the world. Emphasis will be placed on the plant life cycle from seed to mature plant. Students will participate in our plant-a-seed hands-on activity and will get to take their planted seed home for further observation.

Golden Harvest Tour

What does the number 890,000 represent? In 2017, this was the recorded number of acres of corn planted and harvested in North Carolina. During Hubb’s Farm’s Golden Harvest Tour, students will learn all about corn and how it is grown, harvested and consumed. Participants will be a-maized at the byproducts derived from corn, as it is truly a harvest of gold unlike any other! We’ll also explain how a corn maze is created using GPS technology.

Pumpkin Power Tour

Is it a vegetable or a fruit? During the Pumpkin Patch Tour, students will learn all about pumpkins and how they are grown, harvested and consumed. Emphasis will be on the life cycle of the pumpkin and common vegetables, as well as the amazing fact that pumpkins are considered a nutritional powerhouse. After the class discussion, students will visit a pumpkin sensory STEM station for hands-on learning.

Santa on the Farm Tour

Students will arrive at Hubb’s North Pole, where they’ll enjoy a ride on the Hubb’s Express train to view our wonderland of holiday inflatables. They will enjoy story time with Santa and explore the activities in our Crops of Fun Play Land. The tour also includes a small treat from Santa, complimentary hot chocolate and cookies, and one free return pass for Christmas on the Farm Weekend.
